The School Curriculum


The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum. All national curriculum subjects are taught, including French. As well as teaching key skills in reading, writing and mathematics , pupils are encouraged to tackle problems and work independently in these subjects.

Curriculum Overview for Years 1-6

We use the ‘Read Write Inc.’ programme for a systematic approach to phonics in Reception and Key Stage 1.

Our Reception Curriculum is designed and developed specifically to address the Early Learning Goals, considered necessary to achieve a good level of development.
Early Years Curriculum

The children have swimming lessons in Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6.

Religious Education follows the Dorset agreed syllabus. Parents have the right to withdraw their children from Religious Education and Collective Worship.

We run Beach School throughout the school.
