Welcome to Dolphins Class!
Dolphins class is for children in Year 3. In Dolphins Class, we encourage children to take responsibility for their own organisation and independence and each child has a role to play within our class community. Mutual respect and good relationships amongst all children and adults underpin all that we do.
Mornings in Dolphins Class are Literacy and Numeracy time. Literacy and Numeracy teaching is highly differentiated to ensure each child is appropriately supported and challenged.
Afternoons are for topic work which comprises of all other National Curriculum subjects. Literacy learning is closely linked with our topic work to provide a meaningful and vibrant context for development of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills across the curriculum. Opportunities are provided for children to become fully immersed in their learning through a creative, questioning and investigative approach to the curriculum.
At every opportunity, we make links with the outstanding natural environment in which our school is located. ICT is integral to all areas of learning and is used creatively to equip children for the ever-changing world in which we live. Wherever possible we encourage outside visitors and take the children on excursions to give them real life, engaging experiences.
Homework is issued every week and is relevant to curriculum areas being covered within school. It is designed to interest and excite the children, and is also a way of keeping you informed of what is taking place in our class so that you can help your child to consolidate their learning. Weekly reading, tables and spelling will also be set. We believe that strong links with children’s parents / carers are vital in ensuring children learn well and are happy in school. We encourage and welcome parental involvement and aim to share successes as well as any problems which might arise promptly. We really enjoy working with your children and provide a hard-working, stimulating and fun environment in which the children can reach their potential.
